März, 2010, 18-21 Uhr Für die dritte Ausgabe von backyardoutdoorsculptureseries nutzt Henning Bohl die Außenfläche der Galerie als Skulpturenpark. Umgeben von einem Spielplatz, einem Parkplatz und begrenzt durch verschiedene Zäune stellt Bohl drei Skulpturen aus, die auf verschiedene Weise Elemente aus dieser Situation aufgreifen. Ein aus mehreren dunkelgrün gebeitzten Holzspalieren zusammengesetztes freistehendes Gitter ist wie eine dreidimensionale Schraffur an ein Gestell von Holzlatten angebracht. Durch eine Art Prothese aus Metall mit zwei paar Skiern verbunden, wird die Möglichkeit von Mobilität hier nur angedeutet, dienen die metallenden Kufen doch gerade der stabilen Befestigung der Skulptur am Boden. Auch die beiden anderen Skulpturen zeichnen sich durch eine solche doppeldeutige Funktionalität aus. Mit aufwendigen Halterungen versehen wurden zwei mit Tafellack gestrichene Türblatter zu Barrieren umfunktioniert von denen die eine am Boden steht, während die andere dieser neuen Funktion wiederum enthoben als Tür an der Aussenwand der Galerie befestigt ist. backyardoutdoorsculptureseries #3: Henning Bohl, 3D, 4D, 2 1/2-D March 13 – April 24, 2010 opening reception: March 13, 2010, 6-9 p.m. For the third edition of our backyardoutdoorsculptureseries Henning Bohl uses the outer space of the gallery as a sculpture park. Surrounded by a playground, a parking lot and encircled by fences Bohl exhibits three sculptures that adopt elements from this surrounding situation. Several wooden folding trellis painted in dark green are assembled with each other to form a big arbour mounted onto a wooden frame. By a form of metal prosthesis the lattice is connected with two metal skis. This notion of mobility is only suggested since the metal skids provide a stable base for the sculpture. The remaining two sculptures are characterized by this ambiguous functionality as well. Two door leafs coated with blackboard paint and fitted with elaborate fasteners are converted into barriers; one is placed on the ground; while the other in turn - stripped of this newly gained function – is fixed as a door onto an outer wall.
