Appearing Rooms - 2004 water, wood, pump, iron, computer, nozzles 700 x 230 x 700 cm / 275 1/2 x 90 1/2 x 275 1/2 in Installation view: Appearing Rooms, Villa Manin, Torino, IT, 2004. The work is a programmed water pavilion that comes across as a labyrinth made out of four outer water walls in the shape of a square. This structure is then sub-divided into smaller shapes by independent walls within the larger square. The 2,30 meter high water walls randomly rise and fall, defining all possible right-angled configurations of the space, in sequences of ten seconds each. The visitor moves within the structure, finding him-or herself suddenly in differently shaped spaces, oscillating between the inside, and the outside of the pavilion.
